San Miguel and Rain or Shine drew victories in contrasting fashion in the opener of the PBA Fiesta Conference Semifinals. San Miguel beat Burger King from pillar to post in the first game, 102-87, while Rain or Shine stunned Ginebra in the second game, 101-95.

San Miguel looked mighty impressive (led by Dondon Hontiveros), and Yeng Guiao had no answers, opting to bench Shawn Daniels, Arwind Santos, and Gary David in the fourth quarter. It was a great win, and I really hate to rain on the Beermen's parade, but San Miguel's guys are at their best when they're frontrunning. They have looked this good when they're winning for the past two years. Can they do this to Burger King every game? I wouldn't bet on it.

I did not see the second game--I was actually out to dinner with Manila Vanilla talking hoops--but Ginebra fans are up in arms over the Gin Kings' collapse in the last few minutes of the game. They're so mad, in fact, that they're willing to trade their coach to Purefoods, Jong Uichico, in exchange for Ryan "The Genius" Gregorio. I quickly jumped on the offer. Hell, I'd even throw in Ronnie Magsanoc, and a year's worth of hair care products and facials for Ryan to look eternally telegenic.
