Professional basketeers are human beings. They don't treat playing each of the teams they same way.
In the NBA, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers would not treat playing Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers as if they are playing say the Charlotte Bobcats or the New Jersey Nets. The same is true with respect to Kobe when playing King James. A fan cannot say that a player plays passionless basketball just because there is lack of energy on their part when playing a certain team. That is also true with the type of games that they play. NBA players won't treat regular season games the same way as the NBA playoffs. There is more energy in the latter. And when the team gets deeper in the playoffs, the players show more passion in playing especially when the team gets to appear in the NBA Finals.
The same is true with the PBA. Regular games aren't treated the same way as the wildcard series, the semifinals series and the conference finals series. As more is at stake there is in winning, players will show more passion.
As of now, there is probably no rivalry in the PBA. But next conference, expect Ginebra to play with more passion against TNT (after the walkout incident) and it won't treat it the same way as if it was playing let's say Rain Or Shine. And the same is true probably with TNT.
In conclusion, players don't treat each game the same way to conclude that they play passionless basketball just because there was lack of interest in the team they are playing against with.

NBA players are viewed to be seen to have more passion as compared to PBA players is probably because most American basketball players are statistics conscious as compared to Filipino basketeers. Most NBA players want to look good as far as scoring points, getting rebounds, passing the ball and blocking shots as compared to Pinoys that it is misinterpreted as passion for winning. Trying to look good statistically has always been a major consideration for American ball players.
