Guess who’s broadcasting the Azkals’ World Cup qualifying match in Sri Lanka

Ronnie Nathanielsz

It’s our favorite naturalized Filipino (by a Marcos presidential decree) from Sri Lanka himself, Ronnie Nathanielsz!

I can’t really make a comment on ABS-CBN’s choice itself (considering I’ll soon be technically working for a television network too), although I’m sure you guys must just be thrilled.

wow! the sri lankan who owns no pause button when speaking!
#2 karol on 2011-06-27 10:51 (Reply)
wow.i'm guessing dyan castillejo would be partnering him.abs-cbn sports management are really geniuses.can't wait to hear her link every freaking tidbit to manny pacquiao on the broadcast.you know what would be even better. those two plus chino trinidad harping about "may puso itong mga manlalaroNG ito" quote at least 20 times in the broadcast. sports commentary has really taken a nosedive the past decade in this country.IT SUCKS.
#3 noko on 2011-06-27 11:00 (Reply)
DCastillejo: "OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH OH MY GOSH .........."
#4 JIMBO 2.0 on 2011-06-27 12:39 (Reply)
Ronnie Nathanielsz ..... the precursor to Noli Eala himself (balimbingus maximus)

Fully agree with #2 ...... a Nathanielsz, Castillejo & Chino Trinidad troika will make for the most annoying broadcast of all time.
#5 rex on 2011-06-27 14:17 (Reply)
Chino Trinidad mostly rather than describe the action would rather paint the broadcast with the likes of "nagbabagang mga mata", "ibang klase ang puso ng batang 'to" etc...

Wala naman magaling/marunong na broadcaster sa Pinas for a football game? Hindi naman pedeng sina FQ, Dean at NE giyera patani ang mangyayari he he.
#7 LJ2 on 2011-06-27 16:43 (Reply)
at least the analyst is BOB GUERRERO, who I believe is one of our most astute analysts for football and billiards.....maybe he can tell Mr. Nathanielsz to just let him do most of the analysis and Ronnie can just give tidbits about Sri Lanka....
#8 TheGreatCornholio on 2011-06-28 00:31 (Reply)
I'd take this guy anytime over Recah "Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang Pilipinas! Mabuhay ang PILIPINAAAASS! (then goes on an epileptic fit) Trinidad.
#9 ultim81 on 2011-06-28 05:12 (Reply)
yeah.. thats him, the Srilankan or Ceilonese, die-hard Toyota fan - Crony Nathanielz who so re-faced as he was loudly booed during the opening ceremoniies of PBA season '86
kay Recah na lang ako, the least plastic. lol

Title at picture pa lang, na-aliw na 'ko. hehehe.
#11 cabrob on 2011-06-29 09:29 (Reply)
natawa ako sa hirit ng mga abs-cbn colleagues niya sa morning show nila kanina kasi tinanatanong nila isa't-isa kung saan o kanino daw kaya kakampi si nathanielz. hahaha
#12 paolylo on 2011-06-29 21:08 (Reply)
let's face it.

the only reason why ABS-CBN Sports got him to do this was because he's Sri Lankan... as if that's enough reason for him to do a good job which he obviously didn't.

i was really annoyed at his commentating, he doesn't know a whole lot about football. fair play etiquette (he thought giving back the ball was a "wasted chance"), offsides, even the away-goals rules. taena, buti pa si Quinito nung ginawa ang MMA, may alam pa kahit konti.

ABS-CBN did it again. too much rhetoric, very little substance. i don't have a ticket to Rizal Memorial, but i really want Darren Hartmann to call the match.
#13 anonymous on 2011-06-29 22:46 (Reply)
To be fair...

He wasn't too bad. Haha
#14 jorge paule on 2011-07-02 07:58 (Reply)
who were the 2 commentators during our qualifier in myanmar? I prefer them than these 3. Those 2 were entertaining at the same time knowledgable in football. I cant wait to hear, grabe ang puso ng azkals, followed by nakakaawa ang sri lanka!hahaha
#15 anonymous on 2011-08-17 07:56 (Reply)
