I’ve been a fan of SLAM since high school, and up until a few years ago I still bought the magazine every month, until the hefty price tag (~P500-P600 a pop) made me reassess its place in my life’s list of priorities.

So it’s good news for hoops junkies like me that the magazine has now come out with a Philippine edition, which would retail for only 200 bucks. I’m particularly stoked that they’ll be putting out the same cover as the American edition, because the magazine has had some really excellent covers through the years, including my personal favorite, the SLAM issue 50 featuring three different Michael Jordan photos in mid-flight.







Interestingly, the local edition will also be covering players from the Philippine hoop scene, with stories on Smart Gilas, Kiefer Ravena, and Ronald Tubid making it to the maiden issue. Meanwhile, in line with my stated goal to write for every magazine out there, I wrote a feature for the next issue of SLAM Philippines too, so watch out for that.
