From the Stands: PBA Finals talk with Chot Reyes & Paul Harris, TNT vs Alaska/Crispa
Comments
sir, nasa WWE phase kami ngayon, so lahat ng music namin ay entrance themes ng wrestlers (or groups) dati. hehe!
We're sticking with WWE themes for our background music. Evolution was dominant then and TNT is dominant now so that's the connection. (That's a BS answer, actually, we just find WWE themes cool.)
which is cool, me thinks. there was sugarfree after their farewell concert, triple h theme for wrestlemania week, then edge's theme shortly after his retirement. so who's for next week? haha!
what's with the barking dog at the back though?

Wow! All correct, sir! We don't know yet. Do you have any suggestions?
Chuck forgot to feed his dog so it was a bit pissed off. I'd take the do any day over mating cats though.

Maybe this comment should be in FQ's previous comment (which I found too hard to swallow the truth - the BGK fan in me speaking), just got inspired probably with the discussion.
* TnT will run Ginebra to the ground - while they may (seem) to match each other, Ginebra players are a bit old (Hatfield - 2000, Menk - 1999, Wilson - 03, Tubid - 03, Evil - 03, Mamaril - 02, de Ocampo - 02, Cortez - 03, Miller - 01, Caguioa - 01). They're partly to blame because Jong likes veterans more than developing up and coming players. Meanwhile, TnT's "senior" guys are Peek (98), Lao (02. but i'm joking of including Lao), Alapag and Carey (03). The rest have relatively fresh legs - Castro, Dillinger (08), Fonacier (06), KWill (06), Ryan Reyes (07), de Ocampo (04). I'm not sure if I got TnT players' draft years correctly, but you get my point.
When Ginebra defeated (almost?) the same team last year in the 09-2010 Philippine Cup, JC Intal happened. Now he's on the bench. That was Intal's breaking out party - and now Jong has kept him too much in the freezer (this always happens in an import conference). I'll give credit to Ginebra for putting a stand against a (younger) Gilas team but TnT is stack with "young" veterans compared to Ginebra's. Hindi kaya ng Ginebra "mamain" ang TnT.
* TnT as Crispa - well, they can be since Crispa too was loaded with superstars (6 are in the PBA HoF). TnT, whether they deny it or not, is a superstar team also. As to who can match-up with them, ok naman yung mix ng PBA (if you remove Powerade, Barako Bull, and Air21) pero it just so happened that TnT has the perfect line-up to match up against the other teams (Ginebra - too old, SMB - could have been but they're too young now, PF - too many injuries, Meralco - still confused, RoS - too many role players?, Alaska - can be but they just rebuilt). I guess TnT is ahead of everyone at this point and the others are either too old, too confused, or rebuilding at this point. There's no "Toyota" yet.
As to TnT's appeal and to the legacy they'll leave if they win the grandslam - i dunno. Baka mauwi na naman sa fil-ams issue (they're loaded). There's no charismatic player in there (except for Alapag in my POV). Or maybe they're loaded with too much superstars that nobody stands out. Is TnT headed for a grandslam? Crispa, SMB, (Great Taste) and Alaska were stacked with big names. It can happen.
We just saw what happened yesterday (to my) Ginebra. I'll just count on the intangibles that Ginebra brings on the court (hopefully they'll bring it in 4 games).

Jimmy was TNT's best chance to have that superstar with appeal. He was talented, got his own celebrity girlf and played well on the international stage.
Bad timing lang siya because kasabay niya si James Yap, Danny S, Caguioa, Willie Miller and Helterband. Mahirap niya matalo yung mga yan in terms of appeal at the height of their careers.

TNT may win all the championships but they will still be lagging behind in fan following, possibly, no. 5 (the highest). They can buy some people to watch and cheer for them but that's about it. IDK but there must be something wrong.
I think it's because is one of the "younger" teams so to speak and their heritage isn't as rich as other teams.
I mean how can you compare TNT's heritage to the likes of SMB, Ginebra, Purefoods and even Alaska.
I guess a lot of PBA fans are like the FTS boys. They are very nostalgic and loyal to the teams that they (or their dads and titos) loved growing up.
Watching SMB brings back memories of of the explosive Dannys, Ato, Samboy. Ginebra faithful will never forget Jawo. Purefoods fans will always look fondly on Cap's playing days. Alaska fans will always remember the Grandslam days.
I'm hoping that TNT's exploits now will help them build a relationship with younger fans so that future fans of the team can look back fondly on the exploits of this dominating team.

One of the best episodes! Sound quality is better too. Nice recap and assessment of game 1. Keep 'em coming!
I sincerely hope though that someone will download this for Coach Jong! Play Intal and Wilson more!

salamat sir! I decided to up the bitrate, making the filesize bigger. Hopefully the sound quality makes it worth it!
sa sobrang taas ng bitrate, naririnig namin yung aso nyo hehe! *LOL*
dibale sir! pag nagkaroon na kami ng budget para mag-record sa totoong studio, mawawala na ang mga unwarranted SFX na yan. hehe!
Part of the fun yan! As much as possible we try not to do too much editing so that the flow of the conversation isn't interrupted. Mating cats, barking dogs and passing tricycles be damned!
But we're also looking for better places to record. Hopfully, we can give you the same content and flow without the additional sound effects.
Thanks to everyone for staying faithful even if guerilla production pa kami!

Veteran team knows how to play basketball. Even ginebra is older than TnT, they can still give a good fight. This could be an epic and you will know who will have a bigger chance of getting the crown. 1-1 now bro!
