Chris Tiu cannot guard James at any given day!
#2 Nomad on 2011-03-25 14:47 (Reply)
The Bull but not by a mile.
#3 workhorse3 on 2011-03-25 14:50 (Reply)
sayang that BMeg game could have been Tiu's statement against James Yap, we didn't see it. Chris can probably guard Nino (not KG) Canaleta at any given day hahaha. But then he gave up 20 points to PJ Simon. We'll see if Tiu can go up against Ginebra's guards on Wednesday.

Regarding Asaytono vs. Raymundo, Asaytono may be the better one on one player, but I'd pick Raymundo as a "team" player. During his stint in the late 90s with San Miguel, it was always Asaytono vs. Alaska (I remember his back to back 40 points vs. Alaska in a finals series). Jacobs relied on him too much and paid the price. It's like Asaytono carried SMB on his back and failed, while Raymundo (while he didn't solely carry his Chunkee Giants) did his job and was rewarded for it (falling short of his "tunay na MVP" award.) But then you have to give it to Asaytono's longevity; he was on his 8th-9th season when he was scoring in the 30s-40s. Other players in the PBA right now dwindle on their 8th-9th season.

@ Jae, love the podcast. Suggestion lng pwede ba nilang e record yung podcast nila sa mas mataas na bitrate kasi medyo mahina yong audio eh. Keep up the good work guys.

I'd pick Asaytono any day of the week. To your response that the Bull was surrounded by good players, yes he was surrounded in SWIFT (SUNKIST) but NOT in SMB.

I honestly believe he and the Captain are close head on as the best PF in PBA history. Pinagkaiba lang, mas may karisma si Kap kesa kay Da Bull kaya never manalo nalo ng MVP si DaBull.

Right call on Japeth. Masyado pumasok sa ulo nya yung fame. Masyado pinipilit maging ibang bagay and not stick with Coach Rajko's gameplan. I remember nung Jones Cup, he could easily have gone for an easy up and under but no.. nagpowerdribble at gusto lagi magdunk. Pag dedepensa gusto lagi magvolleyball spike na block. Such a waste nakuha nya kaagad ang PMS (Post Prime Marlou Syndrome)

Lastly, I have to agree dun sa nagsabi Melo was obtained thinking of a championship run. And yes, they gave too much to obtain Melo Drama.

Da bull can do it all offensively...da kid is a good but not a great player...defensively mas lamang though si da kid.el guapito all the way!!!

@Jimmy: Thanks for the suggestion about the bitrate! I purposely lower it to help save on space, so that it's quicker for people to download/stream. But i can try in the future eps to increase the bitrate. Thanks for downloading/enjoying :)

Asaytono over Raymundo.

Sana pag-usapan nyo naman yun BGK on your next episodes;

On the old school vs new school, how about compare it team vs team? (e.g 90's alaska vs Present or NCC vs Gilas) just a suggestion, anyway good podcasts, been downloading your episodes every week since the Firequinito Patayangbutiki episode.

1. Conio lahat ng boses hehehe.

2. Dumb-Gilas' loss just goes to show how dependent they are on Douhtit. That's why I'm not in favor of naturalization. Just imagine if this unfortunate thing happens in actual international competition.

3. I can't see any point of comparison between Asaytono and Raymundo. Two different players. As workhorse3 said, Kerby is the better team player. I'd rather compare Raymundo to Patrimonio, then Nelson Asaytono to Rob Parker.

From the start, I'm really doubting if the all-amateur squad of Smart-Gilas will lead us to success in international basketball scene. But yeah, that's impossible. That's why naturalization and lending of PBA of its players is a must.

Their growth and development, though, has been very impressive for the years they've stayed with Gilas.

Smart Gilas will win more than half their games in the tournament
False. I think Smart Gilas will lose not because it is a bad team, but because the squad will be shorthanded; injuries and school commitments have ravaged the Smart Gilas roster
---shorthanded? are you sure?
#13 JC Macapagal on 2011-03-29 16:57 (Reply)
Kerby don't care about stats. He cares more on winning and helping his teammates. That makes him my choice if i were to pick between the two of them.

And i agree with RODOLFO OBNIALA's post wherein he said there is no point of comparison between the two. They are so much different when it comes to playing style. The only thing which is the same is their shot selections. Obviously both of them sometimes takes ill advised shot..

Nice episode by the way, this is my first time to listen to it. The name Kerby caught my attention that's why i curiously checked on i. I'm a big fan of him by the way (which explains why i picked him over Nelson LOL)
#13.1 d.kid4ever on 2011-07-08 20:38 (Reply)
kid over bull, hands down. compare the number of championships. basketball is a team sport, kerby surely is a captain material, does not care about the spotlight, always motivate team8s,and my favorite aspect of his game other than his basketball smarts is his passion and desire to win,i have never seen a pinoy player(homegrown) who has a fire to play k=like he does, bull is surely a great scorer but points alone wont do it.
