The Sloan Sports Analytics Conference at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology is an annual event that brings together top sports executives, coaches, media personalities, journalists, and bloggers. The 4th 5th edition of the conference, which popular sportswriter Bill Simmons has dubbed Dorkapalooza, happened this past weekend, and Pacific Rims author (and friend of the blog) Rafe Bartholomew was there to represent:



Either the name of this blog was misspelled, or Rafe simply harbors animosity toward Rufa Mae Quinto (which probably wouldn’t sit well with Mikey Arroyo). But I think he only wrote that in because it would have been awkward if his ID said Raphael Bartholomew / rafebartholomew.com. Rafe told me in an email that Pacific Rims was part of the goodie bag for everyone who attended the conference, so hopefully we’ll have all these NBA types reading about Willie Miller (and his little Thriller).

In other news, it looks like Pacific Rims will be adapted into a feature length documentary in collaboration with filmmaker Ramona Diaz. If you aren’t familiar with her work, Diaz was the woman behind the acclaimed (and immensely entertaining) documentary “Imelda: Power. Myth. Illusion.” Lume-level up na si Tiyo Paeng. I expect the docu to do really well among fans – except of course Azkals fans who still think that Rafe hates football because its popularity cuts into his book sales.
