Actually, I was wondering what Hermida is doing in there as well. Parang nagiging bata-bata system talaga :( Or maybe Hermida's the best available player that's not in any PBA or UAAP teams. I don't know.
#1.1 workhorse3 on 2011-02-17 15:22 (Reply)
the best players are tied to their motherclubs at this point. pati yung UAAP and NCAA players to their schools. (but how come Ramos is there? Cawaling did quit Gilas.) I don't find anything wrong with Ballesteros in the line-up, he was with the original Gilas team in 09. Pero there are pros-in-waiting too (which are still considered amateurs) like Paul Lee or Fajardo whom Gilas can enlist in their last spot. O dun ba sila sa Sinag?
#1.1.1 Major Tom on 2011-02-18 00:03 (Reply)
Lee and Fajardo both opted to play follow the leader.
well.. to be more precise, Lee is gonna play under Chiongson's team in the PBADL and Fajardo will defend his collegiate title in Cebu against barangay teams. Don Ramon must be very very proud.

Hermida was helping the team for practicing and fr.games bec only 8 players were available.Eala dosn't know what he is saying.Needs attention, that's all.
#2 j on 2011-02-17 14:42 (Reply)
anu ba talaga gingawa ni hermida dun? hehe pero siguro for this conference lang naman to no? kawawa naman daw kasi borgy kung di maglalaro. tsk2
#3 secret on 2011-02-17 14:52 (Reply)
is eala taking cheap shot at frankie lim??? because hermida used to play for lim when he was still in beda??? hhhmmm... something's not right,, better fix it asap...
#4 blogblogblog on 2011-02-17 17:38 (Reply)
hermida doesn't have a team in the pba right now. he still has some unpaid salaries from barako bull. if there's anyone who is available and is not tied up with their mother teams whether pba/ncaa/uaap, then maybe you can suggest to sbp.

Hate to say it, but Eala has got a point ..... though, tweeting about it shows immaturity on his part.

IMO, if the sole purpose is to help GILAS just for the PBA conference, there are a few other more 'worthier' players for the spot .... at this point most of the abandoned BARAKO players are far more seasoned than Hermida e.g. Wainright, Dimaunahan, Hubalde, etc

It just goes to show that the bata-bata system is alive & well .... it's very obvious that Frankie Lim lent a helping hand to his boy.
#6 gilasinsider on 2011-02-18 00:13 (Reply)
i would actually pick hermida over wainright, dimaunahan and hubalde. he's young and has some potential at least.

he most probably will not play for smart gilas in this 2nd pba conference anyway barring some crazy turn of events. you can mark that down. He just had no one to play for and probably asked frankie lim if he could train with gilas and then since gilas only has 12 players, with ababou and slaughter missing practices at times (and aguilar still injured), it doesnt hurt to allow hermida to join their practices. there is also this fil-am kid named cody tesoro who practices with the team but there is no way also that he will play for gilas.

Paul Lee and his backers are now pushing hard for Gilas to put him on the team. BUt as Gilas coaching staff and management put it, they were asking him to play for them for such a long time and they didn't want. and just because now he isn't playing in the uaap anymore *cause of coaching conflict (bata-bata) they're going to push him to play. They think its too late to experiment with lee already. Same thing for fajardo. The only new guys who will play with Gilas will be the 5 pba players they will get -- who will join them in the third conference most probably.
#6.1 Major Tom on 2011-02-18 00:31 (Reply)
wait what? Lee I could understand, since Good PGs are dime a dozen in the Phil, but Fajardo? I believe you are sitting at a buried gem here.

let's assume that His handlers did allow Fajardo to play for Gilas... how hard would it be for a pretty potent post player to make his way in tye system?
I remember a healthy and determined Rabeh performing well against PBA teams during the earlymdays of Gilas. excluding Asi and maybe Sol, wouldn't the other 3 pba players be new to Toroman's system as well? and as we all know Toroman doesn't take player mistakes lightly, if you make one move then its time to hit the bench.
#6.1.1 Gilasinsider on 2011-02-18 14:26 (Reply)
Well for one thing, rabeh will always play well in the pba cause it fits his game but against 7 footers as a center its a diff thing. Hes quite slow to be a pf in international ball.

Asi has been with the team for some time yet he still hasnt fully grasped the system. The thing is, if they are going to get somebody for the short term, might as well be the best in the land. Fajardo may be good but i think kelly williams and ranidel de ocampo or jay wash and joe dv would be better than him at this stage. Its precisely why coach raijko is requesting for the players to be with the team for 3 months at least. And with the tnt guya, at least coach chot runs some of toroman's plays and there was a time when raijko trained this team.

You are right, the players will all be new to his system and that was one of his biggest challenges in thenlast asian games. Didnt have enoug time. Wih that being said, better to get more experienced and skilled players who are ready to contribute right away rather than a developing guy.

Fajardo is killing in college more because of his size, but in the intl game, it will be tougher.
#6.2 workhorse3 on 2011-02-18 17:38 (Reply)
makes sense now. Got turned off by the part wherein Lee or Fajardo snubbed Gilas then trying to insert themselves to the program. Figured nga that Hermida will play little minutes.

BRAVO Miakka!
It was time for someone to say why this arrogant prick was replaced with F.Lim.Thank's to MVP's grace,he stayed with SBP,even though he was abusing his position concerning the money.Even, the allowances from other people ended in his pocket.Instead of being grateful,he continued hiting on everyone and anyone.I hope, this is the last drop, that will put him away from basketball forgood.
This "expert for fog and dust" will have a living that he deserves, cause KARMA IS A BITCH!
