Ronnie Nathanielsz and Quinito Henson have a holiday bitchfight over TV ratings

Di kaya may pagka bias yung last sentence?
"Maybe Filipinos aren’t ready for football yet. But more probably, you’re airing it on a shitty channel that has terrible reach. "
Aminin na natin you work for GMA. and aminin din natin, jologs ang GMA kasi masa target niyo. If ABS(studio 23 etc) is shitty, what word fits to describe GMA etc? :P
Hinay hinay lang pre. napaghahalataan eh

No, dumbass, I don't work for GMA. I contribute stories occasionally for GMANews.TV.
Not work but only contribute? dude that's enough to inhibit a supreme court justice...
It's amazing to read Turcuato's blog (written May 2008) because as you can see, they projected back then that the PBA will be better off with RPN vs studio 23 because of "reach" justifying the choosing of SOLAR as coveror even taking a shot at UAAP. CUT TO just two years later. PBA value as a brand has deteriorated and UAAP has almost doubled. Solar does not want it anymore. Talk about context.
Brand marketing does not revolve solely on some survey, sometimes or most of the times, it's also about perception. ABS-CBN has been on 2nd place in terms of ratings (Mega Manila) for quite sometime but their ad rates are still higher than that of GMA. The survey also does not measure ABS-CBN's reach in terms of other media platforms (digital, web, IPTVs, TFC etc). PBA should stop obsessing about the "V" being a "U" and instead appreciate how those assholes from ABS-CBN can sell something as silly as a cheering competition for an estimated 80 million pesos to some Korean multinational to sponsor it..

All the talk about brand value is valid, of course, but it still wouldn't do the PBA much good. In the case of the UAAP, they don't really care about the raw ratings as much as the brand and advertising value; consider that ABS-CBN makes most of its money off Ateneo-La Salle and cheerdance, with most of the other matchups having very little viewership, and that's ok with the UAAP, as long as they get paid.
That's not the case with the PBA, they need the raw ratings because the teams need exposure. And chances are, because of reach factors, and Air 21-RoS game will rate significantly lower on Studio 23 than on VHF TV.

Both GMA and ABS kasi are fighting for ratings supremacy. TV nowadays is more of a business. Patay kung patay.
I think many cable subscriber watch the said Azkals games via ESPN & STAR SPORTS w/c the anchor is not overacting while reporting the said game & at the sametime in ESPN it had a nice color vision while on studio 23 it looks like your watching it on year 1965 ... a black & white & the anchor sounds irritating to my ear .
yeah. bakit ako manonood sa studio 23? di ako maeeducate dun. hahaha
oh, I'd like to know too the number of people who preferred to watch the Azkals match in Star Sports than Studio 23 because of Nathanielsz's commentary. A personality tweeted one (she said something like thank God for Star sports) :p
LOL
a bit off topic, but ugh, Nathanielsz is still defending and praising his fellow commentator Mari Martinez:

Not only does Studio 23 have terrible reach, their programming has deteriorated. So many local shows on primetime and they're even airing old Tagalog movies at night.
Parang Cinema One on free TV.
And Anthony Taberna doing the news on 23? They're obviously imitating GMA's Q11, which will soon be reformatted into a news channel.

Check out nathanielz's twitter acct, wala naman syang paki sa azkals to begin with. Nakiepal lang si buraot nung manalo sa vietnam ang azkals (like 90% of their "bandwagon" fans).
Btw, Nathanielz is Sri Lankan, right? Is he a naturalized Pinoy courtesy of Ferdinand Marcos?
Just curious.
Just curious.
Yes. Nathanielsz was from Sri Lanka before he became a Filipino citizen because of Marcos.
