Hehe, who would have ever thought “Kris Aquino” and “Lou Gatumbato” would appear in the same headline? Only on Fire Quinito! Also, a reminder for everyone that the Philippines vs. Burma game tonight will be broadcast on ESPN at 8:30 PM.

Anyway, here are some interesting reads to get you through humpday:

The blog Cebu Football reposted an article that details how the Philippine national football team came to be called the Azkals.

Kris Aquino’s new movie “Dalaw” had to shoot a new scene, but her leading man Diether Ocampo was not available. They ended up getting a body double, who turned out to be… James Yap!

There were a whole bunch of Lou Gatumbato stories that came out after the longtime semipro veteran finally made his PBA debut last Sunday for Air 21. Patricia Hizon and Quinito Henson both wrote stories (Quinito’s was like, 80% filler, seriously), but I most enjoyed the one posted on the PBA website. Not sure if it was my idol Fidel Mangonon III who wrote it, or if he just posted it online.

Deadspin was able to get audited financial reports of the New Orleans Hornets, which the NBA will be taking over because its owner George Shinn couldn’t afford to run the team anymore. The plan is for the league to run the team until they can find a new buyer. Wait, can the PBA do that for Barako Bull?

I’m VERY excited for David O. Russell’s new movie “The Fighter” which stars Mark Wahlberg as “Irish” Mickey Ward and Christian Bale as his half-brother Dickie Eklund, and the Queensberry Rules’ Tim Starks found a lot to like about the movie. While we’re on the topic, check out this ridiculously awesome interview by Esquire with Bale, who at turns comes off like a totally normal guy and an absolute lunatic.

(Also, the trailer hints at a love scene featuring the gorgeous Amy Adams, who totally floats my boat.)

Sports Guy Bill Simmons will be in the booth for a Miami Heat-Boston Celtics game. I’m a huge fan (obviously), and it’d be interesting to see how he does.

A Pinoy designer is among those whose work has been chosen for commemorative coins for the 2012 London Olympics.

it's a good thing that the Azkals are creating giant waves in the AFF Suzuki Cup. More and more bandwagon fans are in.

As good as it may be, the sport needs more than that.

But I hope that they would win the Cup so that a great fervor will engulf us all. Who knows this could help spark football in the country is needed to become a mainstream sport.
