hello jaemark it's me again!
i'm sorry about criticizing Coach Rajko Toroman the last time, seems like a lot of people reacted to my opinion.
but I was only saying what I feel and see.
Smart Gilas had lots of ups and downs in the past few years, Inconsistency of the players and the team is one of the major factors of their rise and fall.
For example, Japeth Aguilar shines in one game, and then back to depression mode the other game, again and again. Yes, all of the players became better than ever before, but still a player's improvement doesn't spell a W in a game. Hence, a player's improvement is a "recipe" for a championship or a win.
But then again, Rajko Toroman's style of "iron-fist" coaching prevents the whole team to improve. Shouting and scolding at players doesn't solve the game problem, it doesn't give the team 25 points, and most importantly, it doesn't give you confidence.
As we all know "confidence" is a very big factor in basketball and as time passes by without confidence in hand, you will surely lose to yourself and kill your basketball career.
Bottomline is, "too much of everything is bad". And that "too much" is Coach Rajko's very tight grip on his players.. Suffocating them like trying to pick-up an ant with your big fingers, killing them accidentally and unintentionally.

Hey deerman,
Thats a great and very valid point there. and i was thinking he also is way too tough but seeing those 2 other coaches in this MVP cup, and i tell you, they are probably even worse than him. But the Chinese players nor the Jordan players dont ever seem to answer back or anything.
Those 2 coaches led 2 teams to the olympics already. And coach Raijko led iran to the olympics. Just looking at them i can see how strict they are and how they shout at their players. But these 3 guys are olympians so im guessing their style works. If they are like that in the game, what more when they are in practice.
Coach says that Palma coach has squeezed everything out of the Jordan team cause talentwise they are no match for us. He says some of their bench players could never even play in the leagues here! but that's just a testament to how god their coach is.

yes i see those 3 coaches are very strict and are very prudent people too.
I hope that Japeth picks up his game and they'll have a solid run until the Olympic qualifiers.
all of us has high hopes for the team and I really wish for the best for Philippine Basketball.
well, let's just hope that the team will continue their Jordan beating performance and no injuries from this moment on.

Hi Sir Gilasinsider,
Thanks for your comments and inputs. Is it true that Coach Toroman will try out Stanley Pringle (PG) for Gilas?

yes it is. He is a starter in the belgian league which coach thinks is very competitive and coach thinks that none of our players could be starters there. so that means he is really good. they will try to talk to his agent and see if he can come over.
who's this Stanley Pringle? is he a Filipino too?
isn't Casio and Barroca good enough?
adding PG as another import is not a good idea, because we Filipinos have lots of talents in the SG and PG spots..
this is certainly bad. the chemistry that they should've built a long time ago will slowly shatter if this continues.

i asked coach raijko and he relly wants a third point guard. if he cannot get pringle then maybe ryan reyes will be his option.
People keep wanting the team to drop chris tiu and the other shorter guards but coach raijko keeps emphasizing that he is very happy with them and size doesnt matter to him for the guards but for the big men it does. He was asked point blank if he wants James yap or other guys like that in his team and he said No he doesn't want them.
He only wants kelly williams from the PBA.

yep Chris Tiu and Barroca are very hard workers and them being dropped off the team really just sucks.
These guys give them intensity in defense in the backcourt and they really deserve to be in the team.
Tiu is very important as a leader on and off the court.
and
Barroca is the epitome of a Pinoy Basketball Player, seeing him in the court gives us hope for pinoy street players who can rise-up to the occasion just like him. His style is the perfect style of a true-blue Pinoy Player.
