Nonito Donaire family drama, starring Jericho Rosales

I mentioned before that I laugh at the most inappropriate things, so when I saw the latest chapter of Nonito Donaire Jr.’s feud with his father on Jude Turcuato’s blog, I cracked up. It’s a serious matter, and I shouldn’t really be laughing but I can’t help it. Jude’s somber take on it is appropriate, and perhaps you should read that first.

Now, I’m assuming you’re still here and you want to find out what’s so funny. First, I guess we need background on everything that’s happened between Nonito Jr. and Nonito Sr. A couple of years ago, Donaire fired his father as trainer. The old man has been bitter about it ever since, blaming the influence of Donaire’s wife Rachel, for the estrangement.

The elder Donaire has been yapping at his son ever since. Last year, when asked to compare Nonito Jr. to his latest protégé, Marvin Sonsona, he said, “[Sonsona] is ready to fight [Donaire] now.” That tipped everyone off that, Hey, maybe this old guy is just bitter, and maybe a little off his rocker. Nonito Jr. is, after all, a top pound-for-pound boxer, while Sonsona was a raw teenager. Incidentally, Sonsona was knocked out badly in his title fight this weekend and is reportedly considering retirement, because he never liked boxing all that much.

Last week, before Sonsona’s fight, Nonito Sr. took time out from his busy training schedule to disparage his son once more, speaking to Dennis Guillermo of Examiner.com.

Nonito Jr. found all this a little too much, and decided to release a video statement of his own. The funny part comes… oh, just watch the damn thing!

I suppose this shouldn’t come as much of a surprise since Nonito Jr. is pretty showbiz himself. It should be noted that Jericho Rosales also once played another great Filipino champion, Manny Pacquiao in a biopic. That’s one more thing the two of them have in common.

it's a pitty that our firewall seems to be blocking your posted videos. but i read dennis' interview of nonito sr. Took it from the perspective of both a father and a son. my heart bleeds, even before i read the interview, i somehow loathe's nonito jr's showbiz inclination. hope he doesn't end up as another onyok velasca. anyway, for Christsake, talk to your family.

Nonito Jr's response is freaking hilarious! Lalo na with all that bad acting, hahaha!

It's just sooo sad that they have to have this feud, especially now when Jr. seems to be on the fast track to superstardom. Even sadder when it looks like that the main bones of contention are those age-old catalysts for conflict, money and in-laws.

They should look to the Pacquaios for inspiration. Despite all the money, fame and scandals the Pacquiaos still remain a close-knit family. But it looks like Skyflakes is correct, mas idol ata nila ang Mayweathers. Ganun ba talaga? Pagka Jr at Sr and both are in the same business eh kelangan palaging mag-away?? The Mayweathers, the Teutuls from American Chopper and now the Donaires!! Tamang tama na nasa boxing world sila, mag-suntukan na lang sila, kung sino manalo siya ang tama, hahaha!

look to the Pacquiaos for inspiration??? You obviously don't know what you are talking too.

I'll give you one juicy scoop. Did you know what sometime after the barrera-1 fight, Pakyaw gave 20,000 to his estranged father so that his father can re-start his kamatis business?(His father was living in ïsang kahig-isang tuka" life then) When Jinkee found out about it, she instructed her uncle & cousin to go to Pakyaw's father and take back that 20,000 pesos.

Ok, i'm there already. Pakyaw's father abondoned them when they were young. But what is 20,000 pesos compared to the mansions Jinkee bought for her siblings and relatives on HER SIDE? Even the new bar that they opened in Gensan is named after her twin sister. (yoko nang magtell kung kanino nakapangalan ang pagmamay-ari ng bar). LOL

hahaha... ang BP... hahaha...

This story is so one-sided. Nonito Donaire Dayunyor donated 550,000 pesos (if i'm not mistaken, i'm not sure about the exact amount) to Z. Gorres and yet he could not give something to his own family? If Rachele was that manipulative and controlling over NDJ, Gorres would not have received such monetary help. It doesn't make sense to me... unless there's something sinister that happened between NDJ and his immediate family.
