Jared Dillinger almost steals the show in PBA slam dunk contest with Pacquiao jam

Well, at least give him points for trying.

Lacking the explosiveness of fellow local contestants Gabe Norwood and KG Canaleta, Talk N Text forward Jared Dillinger went all out with a gimmick worthy of Dwight Howard. For his first attempt, he made a running start towards the basket for an alley-oop care of teammate Jimmy Alapag, but Alapag waved him off. Dillinger ran to mid-court and stripped his Talk N Text jersey to reveal his Manny Pacquiao outfit, complete with boxing gloves.

Unfortunately, Dillinger couldn't quite get a handle on the ball for his alley-oop attempts, missing both tries. I'm not sure, but Dillinger might have mistakenly worn Bobby Pacquiao trunks instead.

Norwood ended up winning the local edition of the contest, by basically doing the same dunks he did in last year's PBL showcase. This led to a dunk-off against David Noel, who won the import edition. Noel wowed the crowd with the same gymnastic dunk he did when he won the 2006 NCAA competition, before sending fans home happy with a jam from just inside the foul line.

If Kelly Williams joined the slam dunk contest, he would have eaten David Noel alive. Too bad he pulled out because of a bum stomach.

i don't know. personally, i think Norwood's a better dunker, and if he tried the dunk from behind the backboard (same one he tried in the PBL), that would have challenged Noel. pero baka ayaw na rin niya subukan.

I agree. Ayaw na ngang subukan ni Norwood because he is with the national team and an injury could have hurt his stay with the nationals.
