What people say about Fire Quinito

“Fire Quinito is a very, very impressive Philippine sports blog, and I'm not saying that only because the guy who runs it reads my stuff. The blog's take on Philippine sports is funny and right.”
-- Rafe Bartholomew, author of Pacific Rims: Beermen Ballin' in Flip-Flops and the Philippines' Unlikely Love Affair with Basketball

“Gutsy.”
-- Tim Cone, Alaska Aces coach

“Irreverent, objective, witty, straight to the point. Just as sports reportage should be. Yes, even when it attacks the 'numerous dick moves' of Chot Reyes.”
-- Chot Reyes, Talk N Text Tropang Texters Coach

“Fire Quinito reminds us that reading about sports should be as fun as watching or playing them.”
-- Howie Severino, GMANews.TV Editor-in-Chief

“In a culture of kiss asses, it seems [Fire Quinito] has been refreshing in the sports community.”
-- Jude Turcuato, longtime play-by-play announcer and former marketing head of Solar Sports

“I must say it is refreshing to see the reporting as blunt and candid as [Fire Quinito] is.”
-- Fred Uytengsu, Alaska Aces team owner and former PBA chairman

“At 1st why Fire Quinito? I find it really weird to get accolades at the expense of a sports institution. And where is the moral value for awarding you a blog award? You are just an ant compared to someone like Quinito who has been around the writing world as early as your diaper days. You are just a small insect and Quinito won't make patol to you ever and never...”

Dude, if i'm not mistaken Boyet Dones adores Quinito Henson so much that he even got him as his godfather :)) True story!
#2.1 jaemark on 2010-02-15 21:39 (Reply)
OH MY GOD, OO NGA! kaya pala galit na galit sa akin.

"To Ninong Q, my sincerest gratitude and may God Bless you always. You are really one of a kind." - Boyet Dones

How sweet! :))

hehehehe.
#3 trix on 2010-02-15 21:26 (Reply)
like the post. Haha. Haha. 2 years in a row dapat ah!
#3.1 jaemark on 2010-02-15 23:47 (Reply)
hindi ko naman ayaw sa smart gilas, ok? sure, i write negative (actually, i prefer irreverent, but whatever, negative na kung negative) posts about them, (although mostly about the management, i've been mostly complementary of the players)...

...but i write negative posts about pacquiao too. it doesn't mean i don't like pacquiao, i come out to support him hard whenever he fights. that doesn't mean i can't take him down a peg and call him out for his bs.

ditto with gilas.
#3.1.1 trix on 2010-02-16 10:02 (Reply)
haha, Siguro mali pagkasabi ko. Db dati parang ayaw mo sa program dahil nga "our national should be composed of our best players".

Dont worry im on your side. Haha.
#3.1.1.1 jaemark on 2010-02-16 11:34 (Reply)
well, i voiced my opinion, but now that it's here, we can't do anything about it, right?

of course, i support them, but that doesn't mean i have to slobber all over them. also, it shouldn't prevent people concerned with the program to ask questions and point out issues.
#3.1.1.1.1 trix on 2010-02-16 13:21 (Reply)
Dont get me wrong. Im not saying we should kiss their ass. All im saying is that its funny that you (like me) didnt like the program when it started because of the level of talent that they brought in and now, your blog is doing so well because of them. Haha. In short, "how ironic." And Im not saying we shouldn't point out issues about the program. Well, you're not technically their friend but you were just looking out for the RP team. Nothing wrong with that. And besides what's the use of this blog if you're not going to complain? haha. No fun in that anymore.
#3.1.2 arkitek_lea on 2010-03-02 09:23 (Reply)
and you don't write positively about pfoods all the time. akala ko talaga hindi ka ka-team. hahaha. sige na nga. i hate quinito narin. the guy is old. he'll be retiring soon. =p
#4 markku on 2010-02-15 21:50 (Reply)

#5.1.1 the_pro_scout on 2010-02-16 00:05 (Reply)
There's more to it.

http://boyetsnbacorner.blogspot.com/2008/04/quinito-henson-my-hero.html

Pwede na pang "Maalaala mo kaya" yung love story nila. Taob si Bea at John Lloyd dito. :))

Good evening Mr. Quinito Henson.. I'm Joseph Aquino of Valenzuela city, I'm a fan of Smart gilas RP team handled by coach Rajko Toroman. Can you please give us an update about the team, and their current candidates for naturalization, also i want to ask if the team is still interested in getting the services of filgerman forward christian standhardinger and the things they've been doing to try to acquire him. hopefully they can get player because his a good player, I think he has the entangebles that would fit to the system of smart gilas.. please try to talk to the SBP about the possibility of acquiring him cause I'm sure he would be a great addition to our team, he has the size ( he's 6'8" and weighing 210lbs), he can score from anywhere on the court, he's playing the small forward position but i think he can also play the 2 and 4 position depending on match ups and style of play, and he's also capable of scoring from beyond the arc ( he has a 40% clif shooting from 24ft! ) and with that ability, and with his exposure to a European style of play, I believe that he would be a perfect fit to rajko toroman's system.
