While we’re on that note, I would just like to make a slight correction to a previous column, in which I described a Joey de Leon movie with a prison tattoo gag. Several readers chimed in to point out that it was Val Sotto, and not Jimmy Santos, who played the intimidating inmate in the scene.
I found the clip I was describing (forward to around 3:22 of the video), where Joey de Leon has to spend the night in Jimmy Santos’ jail cell:
The clip above was from “She-Man: Mistress of the Universe” from 1988, and does not contain the gag where the tattoo of the eagle turns into an egg. That gag was used in another Joey de Leon movie, which I’ve narrowed down to either “Ang tipo kong lalake (Maginoo pero medyo…)” or “Takot ako sa darling ko,” and it was indeed Val Sotto who played the tattooed inmate. If any readers out there would have further information on the matter, kindly leave a note on this blog.
Furthermore, I would like to apologize to Mr. Santos and Mr. Sotto, as well as their respective families and moustaches, for any confusion my column could have caused. My deepest regrets.
I just saw that movie about a week ago in PBO. I cant remember the title but it was Joey de Leon with Dennis Padilla as side-kick and they were indeed in prison and Val Sotto was the tattooed gang leader trying to intimidate the duo. Val had an eagle tattoed on his chest. Joey or Dennis dressed the eagle as if it was chicken and ate 1 leg. In the next confrontation, the tattoo came out as an eagle on crutches, a leg missing. None of the 2 titles you mentioned rang a bell.
