Ryan “The Genius” Gregorio dispenses wisdom

Ryan Gregorio is a master of panic

The new PBA season is barely three weeks old, but Purefoods coach Ryan Gregorio is already in midseason form when it comes to his soundbites. Check them out:

“We must be prepared for an all-out effort by Coke. They are shooting for their first win and they will surely go flat-out. Our energies must be greater and our minds clearer.”

October 29, 2009

“(Ginebra) used their overwhelming advantage in quickness against the talented and taller Beemen. They played with tremendous grit and determination. They get their energy once they score on fastbreaks, and the solution to that is that we have to take high percentage shots.”

October 18, 2009

“The return of Caguioa has given them an added boost in the energy department. He was really the spark and he must be contained.”

October 18, 2009

“It’s always nice to win the first game. At least for this particular game, we were witnesses to a game where the wheeling and dealing in the off-season worked. Yes, we want to start on the right foot, but it takes so many games to reach the destination where we want to be in. This is pretty much a good indicator of the things to come (for us) in the conference.”

October 11, 2009

“Facing Burger King is always a good test. They will surely be a tough nut to crack despite the departure of Arwind Santos. They will rely on quickness, roughness and aggressiveness – all the characteristics of a Yeng Guiao team.”

October 10, 2009

It’s like he’s already auditioning for a television analyst job if he gets fired for his team underachieving again this season. Oh, who am I kidding? The guy is bulletproof. He could take a dump on Danding Cojuangco’s pizza and still not get fired.

he seems to speak like Ronnie Magsanoc, his assistant coach in PF :|

If it's any consolation, pogi naman siya. He can always appear in commercials.

May anggulo na hawig niya si Fred Uytengsu

Hehe, that should make Purefoods fans feel better... "Ok lang na talo tayo, pogi naman coach eh."

Ang layo naman ni Fred Uytengsu kay RG. Mas magandang lalake naman yun hehe.

Anggulo lang! Bwahaha!

Pwede si RG magplay ng hot daddy roles sa mga telenovela. Kung Pinoy version ng High School Musical, siya daddy ni Troy Bolton. Mwahaha.

Hehe .... long has this poser-coach sweet-talked his way out of bis losses despite a formidable line-up.

Gregorio practically ran three plays for the past few years.

1. Isolation for Raymundo
2. Isolation for Yap / Screen for Yap outside shot
3. Isolation for Simon

I beieve EVERYONE out there sees that Gregorio is an inferior coach.

Haynaku, ganyan talaga kapag graduate ng Mass Comm. sa UP, magaling sa mga ganyan, nice one coach!

Dapat dyan, best actor.

Well, everybody knows that RG is not a good coach. Too bad for Purefoods especially for the team's fans like me.

I was with Purefoods as Strength and Conditioning Coach from 2002 to 2008...that's 6 years and in that period we suffered some stretches of loosing...some longer than what we wanted...and trust me there were times when we wanted to resign because we thought maybe...we could no longer bring out the best in the players....many sleepless nights. But it was the management that continued to encourage us through the learning process...

But consider this...in the 6 years I was with them, We won 2 Championships and went into the Finals 4 times. So that's a final appearance every year...as per average.

After I left...they swept the Finals over Alaska...

So you are right...Ryan Gregorio is not a good coach...
He is a great coach...
He is not perfect and he needs to learn much much much more...true
But he is willing to learn...I can testify to that.

You cannot achieve those things just by acting...

Are you sure you are a Purefoods Fan? Or maybe you're the one doing a lousy acting job of wanting to become a true Purefoods Fan. Maybe you are a Purefoods Player/s Fan and not a Purefoods Fan?

And so what if they only have three plays or even one play...TRY STOPPING IT!!!!

Alaska has run the Triangle for decades and has gotten them legendary status...

Your comments reflect your ignorance of the sport and its objectives...

He's never claimed to be the best coach...others have awarded him that. Even in their conquest of Alaska in a never before Finals Sweep...he never considered himself superior to Tim Cone.

Yes he has weaknesses as a person...what you don't?

He is inspiring and helping a lot of people with what he is doing...are you?

Mr. Conjuangco and Mr. Ang are the people that they are because of their eye to see things other people do not see...including Ryan Gregorio's true potential...

Are you more successful than they? Are you more accomplished than these gentlemen to think that they can be sweet-talked and manipulated by the boyish good looks of RG Boy?

If that is true then Ryan is even wiser...
