Freddie Roach threatens to quit over Manny Pacquiao’s meeting with Manny Villar

I hadn’t seen the first episode of Pacquiao-Cotto 24/7 when I posted my buddy Alekos Orendain’s review earlier, so it was Rafe Bartholomew who gave me a heads up that Alekos had left out a crazy moment in his post.

And boy, it was a holy fucking shit moment.

Freddie Roach was concerned about the weather in Baguio, and talked Manny Pacquiao into moving out of the storm-ravaged city as soon as possible. The next day, however, Roach discovered that Pacquiao had changed his mind, as he was busy meeting with Sen. Manny Villar. Pacquiao had previously announced his plans to seek a seat in the House of Representatives, while Villar has spent the better part of the last three years working on his presidential campaign for next year’s elections.

(When I asked Alekos about this, he answered: “I didn’t know what to say, it was too much of a WTF moment for me.”)

I don’t know if Villar would make a good president, but over the past few weeks, it’s become apparent that he’s not the greatest guy in the world. Consider:

  1. He’d been spending most of his time hanging out with that lowlife scumbag Willie Revillame.

  2. His campaign had gained notoriety around the Internet for distributing relief goods that bore his name and campaign slogan.

  3. He dropped in on camp in the middle of Manny Pacquiao’s training, presumably to discuss politics, a distraction that irks trainer Freddie Roach so much that he threatens to bolt.

If Pacquiao ends up losing to Cotto, I’m totally blaming Villar. Although it would be funny if it turned out that Roach was indignant about Villar’s presence because the trainer was a big Noynoy fan.

I'd like to add: The expression Manny (Pacquiao, not Villar) makes around 1:08 in the video needs a name. I think it's the face Manny will be making when human rights NGOs come to his future office in the Batasang Pambansa and ask him why Bob Arum has turned a 12-square acre chunk of South Cotabato into a an Internet sex den.

Also, I had my own WTF moment when I saw Roach's Buckcherry shirt.

Also, I'm sure Villar is not the only trapo to visit Pacquiao in Baguio, so while there are plenty of reasons to question his "presidentiables," I don't hold it against him. It'd be hard to find any candidate for national office who hasn't already exploited PacMan's fame for some sort of personal game, and I expect all of them to do it several more times in the future. If Pacquiao loses, heaven forbid, I'll blame Wapakman and Show me da Manny!

Please excuse my Melanie Marquez moment.

The third paragraph should read "personal gain," not "personal game."

hahaha. i think that look was the same one pacquiao gets when he's caught by jinkee chatting up showbiz starlets.

right!!!blame Pacquiao's TV shows if he lose...wag naman sana may pustahan na kami ng barkada ko e....

go pacquiao sana manalo ka!! 30 Million na cash prize $$$
#4 Raffy on 2009-10-29 16:21 (Reply)
1. That "low life" scumbag that you speak of happens to be filthy rich and could care less about what you think.
2. The labeled relief goods that you speak of can easily be the result of a smear campaign so unless you have first hand evidence that can corroborate your claims, I suggest that you keep an open mind.
3. The reason why Roach was so bothered by it is because he's getting less dinero if Pacquiao loses so he has to threaten the boxer into getting his way. It didn't seem like Villar was forcing Pacquaio to sit down and discuss things since he was willingly participating in the first place.

you're an idiot.

i'm a roach fan, i'm not a villar because i'm a noynoy-mar fan, and villar may have been a distraction to pacquiao but he is still a senator and roach doesn't have the right to interrupt their conversation that way, you don't do that to a senator,

we shouldn't be thrashing villar, almost all of the comments, posts in the internet about this episode are against villar, and nobody is censuring roach, what roach did is unacceptable, he should apologize to villar

Let all filipinos unite and
diapprove actions of Sen. Villar.
Do not elect this guy, he will
become the worst president ever.
This guy will be worst than George Bush,
so please kababayan do not vote this guy in office.
#6.1 Kelli on 2009-11-26 03:39 (Reply)
Worst president? On the basis of what? Some stupid black propaganda that have been proven to be nothing but hack jobs?

Manny Villar may not be perfect but the man is the most deserving of the presidency among all the candidates. He is a self-made billionaire who climbed the ranks on sheer hardwork. He was a Speaker of the House, a Senate President and had consistently high approval rates all through out his term. The fact that his peers elected him to be their leader goes to show that not only does the electorate trust him to be a Congressman and Senator, the other officials respect him too.

But what is the use to arguing with dumbfucks like you? ANyone who thinks for a moment that a weakling and spineless underachiever like Noynoy will be a good president is delusional.

This country needs a strong leader not some lame ass poor version of his dead parents.
