Fire Quinito 2009 PBA mock draft, version 2.0
A few more chips land today, with Sta. Lucia acquiring Gabby Espinas, Burger King taking Larry Rodriguez, Coke nabbing Jojo Duncil, and Rain or Shine completing the transaction for Mike Hrabak in the latest Barako Bull fire sale. No word yet on whom the Energy Boosters receive for Rodriguez (probably a draft pick) and Hrabak, but they get Sta. Lucia's no. 6 pick in Sunday's draft.
Anyway, I've been swamped at work all day, so let's make this quick.

Fire Quinito 2009 PBA mock draft, version 1.5
Dominoes fall with some big news. Burger King finally completes the Arwind Santos trade, and they receive Marc Pingris back in return, who's apparently headed to Purefoods. I love Pingris as a player, but I hate the fishiness of all of these deals. Patricia Hizon also reports on Twitter that Rain or Shine and Barako Bull are working on a couple of minor trades: Jeff Chan for Rob Wainwright and Mac Andaya, and maybe Mike Hrabak to RoS.
Anyway, I made a terrible mistake in my first mock draft, as two prospects, Josh Vanlandingham and Lance Convento, are not in the draft. I know, really stupid. My apologies. It's really a great move for those two, as the next couple of drafts figure to be shallower, and they'd have a good chance of getting drafted in higer spots.

Shaq tears up Monday Night Raw
WWE Raw's latest desperate gimmick has been getting different celebrities to host their struggling flagship program each week. This past Monday, it was the Big Sidekick, Cleveland Cavaliers center Shaquille O'Neal. He was a natural for the part.
Lang Whitaker of Slam! has the best recap of the evening's activities, from the perspective of a guy who used to be a fan, but hasn't watched wrestling for a few years, as I'm sure most of you are.
It's only a matter of time before Manny Pacquiao makes an appearance on Raw, to promote his movie with Batista. Let's just hope Vince McMahon doesn't put Mommy Dionisia in a Diva's lingerie match.

Fire Quinito 2009 PBA mock draft, version 1.0
The PBA draft happens this Sunday, and while there's a lot of buzz regarding Burger King possibly selling the rights to draft Japeth Aguilar (as they did with Arwind Santos, Cyrus Baguio, and all their stars), ayoko munang patulan yun. Here's my first mock draft:

Ladies and gentlemen, the UP *Winning* Maroons

Philippine Internet hubs had a minor meltdown last night at around 6:30 PM, after news spread that previously winless University of the Philippines handed the defending champion Ateneo Blue Eagles their first loss in the 72nd season of the UAAP.
Before the game, I was already in a bad mood after the Iran beatdown of Powerade Team Pilipinas, and I was already bracing for something just as bad for the Fighting Maroons. The feeling got worse when UP again came out in their putrid black uniforms. I mean, they are the Fighting Maroons, for crying out loud! Is it too much to ask that they wear, you know, maroon?
But when the game tipped off, the tension wore off as UP had a good start. The team hit their outside shots and took care of the ball, while Ateneo was passive on offense and their shooting was lukewarm. Near the end of the first half, Ateneo threatened to break the game wide open, but Migs de Asis, a sharpshooter who had been warming the bench all season, hit a three-pointer that cut the lead to a more manageable 6 points and swung the momentum to UP.
And swing it did. All hell broke loose in the second half, with UP going on a 14-0 run at the beginning of the third quarter to grab the lead. Ateneo found UP’s zone defense impenetrable, and their shooters turned ice cold. The quarter ended with the Blue Eagles scoring just 6 points.
(Is it a coincidence that Ateneo had trouble getting any penetration, just as Kirk Long got rid of his Brüno hairdo? I think not!)
