About last night: Danny I. raises the roof again in PBA Wednesday
The returning Marquin Chandler led Purefoods to a 92-85 win over Coca-cola. Tigers coach Kenneth Duremdes was hampered by sore eyes, and sat behind the bench in sunglasses. The rampaging San Miguel notched win no. 8 against Talk N Text, in a game featuring the return of Danny Ildefonso. Danny I. looked good against the porous Tropang Texters defense. At one point, Ildefonso ran a pick-and-roll with Olsen Racela which resulted in a wide-open jam (raise the roof!). Valerie Concepcion and Danding Cojuangco were both in the house to cheer for the Beermen, while the Talk N Text side featured celebrity ans Rufa Mae Quinto and BB Gandanghari.
After the jump, a totally gratuitous picture of

Can anyone stop the San Miguel Beermen?
The PBA Fiesta Conference resumes today after the week-long All-Star festivities, with tournament leader San Miguel putting its undefeated record on the line against Philippine Cup champions Talk N Text.Apart from having a dynamic import in Gabe Freeman, the Beermen's backcourt has been lights out during the stretch, with Dondon Hontiveros leading the charge. The Cebuano hotshot has not only been playing out of his mind all year, he is also more than friends, but less than lovers with Valerie Concepcion. Nice life, dude!
After the jump, a totally gratuitous photo of Valerie Concepcion and some more PBA stuff.

Keyboard alert: Manny Pacquiao chats live at the FanHouse

At 1 PM Eastern time Tuesday (that's Wednesday 1 AM Manila time), pound-for-pound king Manny Pacquiao will chat live over at the FanHouse. Bookmark this link now! Then go ask him about Ara Mina.
Last week, it was Britain's favorite hitman, Ricky Hatton going toe-to-toe with the fans. The chat lasted about an hour or so, and hopefully, the Pacman will go on at least that long.

Jared Dillinger almost steals the show in PBA slam dunk contest with Pacquiao jam
Well, at least give him points for trying.
Lacking the explosiveness of fellow local contestants Gabe Norwood and KG Canaleta, Talk N Text forward Jared Dillinger went all out with a gimmick worthy of Dwight Howard. For his first attempt, he made a running start towards the basket for an alley-oop care of teammate Jimmy Alapag, but Alapag waved him off. Dillinger ran to mid-court and stripped his Talk N Text jersey to reveal his Manny Pacquiao outfit, complete with boxing gloves.

Unfortunately, Dillinger couldn't quite get a handle on the ball for his alley-oop attempts, missing both tries. I'm not sure, but Dillinger might have mistakenly worn Bobby Pacquiao trunks instead.
Norwood ended up winning the local edition of the contest, by basically doing the same dunks he did in last year's PBL showcase. This led to a dunk-off against David Noel, who won the import edition. Noel wowed the crowd with the same gymnastic dunk he did when he won the 2006 NCAA competition, before sending fans home happy with a jam from just inside the foul line.

Boxing mop-up: Lopez batters Gerry Penalosa
Fire Quinito gathers all the essential reading for Juan Manuel Lopez's impressive TKO win over Gerry Penalosa, to save you time to gather your thoughts about why BB Gandanghari was denied entry into a bar for cross-dressing.
Gabriel Montoya, Max Boxing: "Between rounds, the trainer of Penalosa, Freddie Roach told his charge that he was giving him one more round. He would have to knockout Lopez or come close or the fight would be over. However, Lopez had other plans as he jumped right on Penalosa at the start of the ninth, not allowing him to get in a desperation shot or any confidence. In fact, as the round wore on, Lopez began landing cleaner and cleaner shots. To his credit however, Penalosa took them well and responded every time he was hit. It was simply too lopsided with no chance of coming back and following the ninth round, Roach mercifully told his fighter he was stopping it, asked if that was okay, and his fighter responded in the affirmative."
Compubox Report: "Punching machine Lopez averaged nearly 50 punches LANDED per round vs. ultimate warrior Penalosa. Lopez’s 87 punches landed in round eight ranked #6 all time for all weight classes. Lopez set jr. featherweight records for most power punches landed in a round, 84 and thrown, 129- also in round eight."
Michael Rosenthal, The Ring: "The 36-year-old former two-time titleholder might’ve turned in the greatest performance in a lopsided loss in boxing history. The former titleholder took an astonishing amount of punishment from a naturally bigger man with crushing power yet continued to throw back and was ready to continue when the fight was stopped. The Filipino might be the toughest fighter in the world pound for pound. What a warrior! That said, his trainer, Freddie Roach, did the right thing by stopping the fight after the ninth round. Penalosa had taken enough punches and wasn’t going to win the fight."
