All’s well that ends well, right?

I am ambivalent about the news about Japeth Aguilar signing with Burger King, apparently, according to news reports, owing to the intercession and the generosity and the kind-heartedness of Manny Pangilinan.

I suppose everyone gets what they want: Lito Alvarez of Burger King gets Japeth for a short period of time before he presumably sells his rights. On Twitter, people like Fidel Mangonon and Jude Turcuato speculate openly on when Burger King will trade Aguilar Talk N Text, like it’s a foregone conclusion.

It still leaves a bad taste in the mouth, especially since we all know we’re being taken for a ride by this whole charade. It’s all good now that everyone’s happy, and all the unpleasantness are swept under the rug, like it was with what happened with Mark Barroca, Mac Baracael, Bonbon Custodio, Marlou Aquino, Noli Locsin, Mon Fernadez, and many others.

Oh, but I’m REALLY excited that the PBA is finally back on, and ridiculously so because Purefoods is playing Burger King tonight. For fuck's sake, Kid Lightning and Boy Thunder are back together tonight!

Also, you can only watch so much college basketball before getting sick of it. Seriously, if I had to watch Kirk Long clang another open jumper off the back ring, I’m going to stick a fork in my neck.

I was going to write a quick preview of the new season, but then Rafe wrote this hilarious piece on his blog dissecting Quinito Henson’s preview article, and it includes this ode to Topex Robinson, who is sadly not in the lineup of any PBA team as the season begins:

Topex, I want you back in the PBA where you belong. I remember I saw you the first time I visited a PBA practice, with Red Bull in 2005. You came over and said what's up to me right away. Maybe because you thought I was the new import. But anyway, I appreciated your kindness. I hope somebody brings you back, or that you set new records in bull-riding.
