The James Yap fanboy video tribute
Here’s the thing: before I was a fan of anything else, I was a fan of Purefoods as a kid, and I still am, despite the ridiculous (and frankly, kinda gay) nicknames like Tender Juicy Hotdogs, Corned Beef Cowboys, Carne Norte Beefies, Chunkee Giants, and T

Man, check out that STATS column...
You see all sorts of forgotten players there.
Noli Locsin, Eugene Quilban, Gerry "Triple Double" Esplana, Frankie Lim, Elmer Cabahug, NANING effing VALENCIANO, Ricric Marata who was once offered a tryout by CBA (or something) team, JOEY LOYZAGA!!!!, Boybits Victoria, Al Solis and Nelson Asaytono of the THEN showtime SWIFT Mighty Meaties... Roehl Gomez! I still remember a telecast wherein Andy Jao says of Gomez who passed on an open trey " He has to take that shot, that's the only thing he's good for." I think that was Franz Pumaren's All-Star year as well.

you forgot the coach of the evil Swift Mighty Meaties... Yeng Guiao!
You don't see individual stats/leaderboards in the papers these days!
Wow Mainman Limpot was awesome that time but what caught more my attention with that scanned sports page was the shooting percentages in the Free throw line and the shots beyond the 3-point arc, I do feel sad as our current players could not be the consistent like the older generation.
About that Purefoods team which entered the 1992 AFC Finalis, it was probably their weakest.
Why?
Apart from their impressive starting five composed of Alvin, Jerry, Dindo, Glenn and Boy Cabahug, the bench was a so-so. They only had Rudy Enterina, Jun Tan, Nani Demegillio, Kevin Ramas, Harmon Codiñera. And Ding Panganiban could only squeeze a little from this rag-tag support crew.

May I share this quote that I lifted up from an archived newspaper of Star:
"Bakit nila ako ginaganito, sir... marangal naman tayo maglaro, 'di ba?" - Alvin Patrimonio pouring out his sentiment to Purefoods executive Teddy Dimayuga when he suffered a black eye, a bloody nose and cuts under both eyes in the first half of the Game 4 of the AFC Finals.

Sky, san mo nakuha ito? Baket parang nabugbog naman si Alvin dito. Parang wala akong matandaang ganon or di ko lang napanuod. Papost nga ng link para mabasa yung kabuuan. :D
